Martin Luther King Jr. Day parade set for Monday in Kingsport

KINGSPORT — The annual Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Holiday Parade is back for its 20th year in the Model City.

When and where: The parade will be held Monday from noon to 1 p.m. Participants will need to assemble at 11:15 a.m. at the intersection of East Sevier and Center streets, formerly the Rikki Rhoton Allstate Insurance Co. parking lot.

Parade route: The parade will follow Center Street and end on Shelby Street, in the city parking lot between Kingsport City Hall and the Justice Center.

How to participate: This year’s theme is “Answer to Racism is the Love of Christ.” If you would like to enter a car, float, church or business van, truck or other exhibit, or take a 20-minute walk during lunch in the parade, contact Elder Gwen Collins at (423) 753-2345 or General Overseer Ronnie Collins at (423) 956-0675 or email [email protected] or [email protected]
