KINGSPORT — About 70 antique and vintage vehicles and a few hot rods were on display Saturday at Rainbow Motors on Stone Drive, and some were even for sale. They ranged from distressed bodies to restored like they rolled off the showroom floor.

Rainbow Motors co-owner Randall Gibson held the event with the help of Kingsport Antique and Rob Club members. It was for National Street Rod Appreciation Day and a pre-cursor to a NSRA car show set for May 4-6 in Knoxville. The event included door prizes for car owners.

Among cars on display were two from 1955, one a Chevrolet two-door Bel Air and the other an Oldsmobile 88 “Holiday” four-door, both owned by John Haynes. Roger Byington also brought his 1946 Chevrolet pickup truck, done in the “rat rod” style including rust and paint patina, while Jerry Collins had a 1950 shiny red Chevrolet five-window pickup.
