Holston Middle boys headed to state basketball tournament

BLOUNTVILLE — After a 31-2 season, the varsity boys basketball team at Holston Middle School is advancing to the next level.

The team will compete in Tennessee’s first ever middle school basketball tournament later this week. Coached by Jared Harrison and Johnny Morelock, the team has won a number of championships this season, including the Tiger Invitational and the Trail Blazer Classic.

The team also won the Big 3 regular season title, the Big 3 Conference tournament, the Area 1-AA tournament and the East Tennessee Area 1-AA state sectional.

Who: The team consists of Luke Jenkins (eighth grade), Carson Tate (eighth grade), Joltin Harrison (eighth grade), Bryson Horne (seventh grade), Parker Leming (eighth grade), Cale Bryant (eighth grade), Micah Turner (eighth grade), Houston Sherfey (eighth grade), Roy Moody (eighth grade), Adam Hunt (eighth grade) and Dawson Arnold (eighth grade).

When: The Eagles will play their first tournament game Friday at 5:45 p.m. against Crestview Middle School from Covington. The game will be played at Stewarts Creek Middle School in Smyrna.
