Pennington Gap woman dead after two-vehicle crash

UPDATE: Virginia State Police has released additional information about a two-vehicle fatal crash in Lee County yesterday.

Virginia State Police Sr. Trooper W.W. Williams is investigating the crash, which occurred Jan. 14 at 3:20 p.m. on Route 352, less than a mile north of Route 421. A 2000 Chevrolet Cavalier was traveling west on Route 352, crossed the center line and struck an eastbound 2008 GMC Acadia.

The driver of the Cavalier, Virginia L. Hall, 64, Pennington Gap, died at the scene. A juvenile passenger in the Cavalier was transported to Harlan ARH Hospital in Kentucky for treatment of serious injuries. The driver of the GMC was treated for minor injuries.

The crash remains under investigation.

ST. CHARLES — A two-vehicle crash on State Route 352 in St. Charles Tuesday left a Lee County woman dead and a juvenile passenger injured.

Virginia State Trooper W. Williams said that a Chevrolet Cavalier driven by Virginia Hall, 63, Pennington Gap, was traveling on St. Charles Road around 3:10 p.m. when the vehicle came around a curve, lost control, went sideways and overcorrected before striking a GMC Arcadia in the opposite lane.

Williams said that Hall died at the scene and her passenger was injured. Barbara Jessee, 53, the GMC’s driver and only occupant, was not injured. Hall was the only person in the crash who was not wearing a seatbelt.

No charges were filed in connection with the crash.
