KINGSPORT — The Kingsport Parks and Recreation Department is starting a new pigskin program this summer: pass and tag football.

Program coordinator Kenny Lawson said former Dobyns-Bennett football coach Graham Clark is a part of this program, which has been designed to allow everyone the chance to touch the football, get instructions and learn football skills.

It’s a fun way to play football, while learning the fundamentals of throwing and catching, Lawson said.

Ages 6-7: 25-yard wide playing field

Ages 8-9: 30-yard wide playing field

Ages 10-12: 35-yard wide playing field

The cost of the program is $10 per child for city and non-city residents. You can sign up now at the V.O. Dobbins Community Center (301 Louis St.). The league begins in June on Tuesdays and Thursdays at V.O. Dobbins.
