ERWIN — Sullivan East picked up a Three Rivers Conference boys basketball win a day earlier than scheduled when the Patriots won 74-41 at Unicoi County on Monday night.

The Patriots used a barrage of 3-pointers from Adam Davison, who drained eight from long range on his way to a game-high 27 points. He tied the school record for most 3-pointers made in a game.

Dayne Davis poured in 10 of his 14 points in the third quarter for the winning side. Mason Johnson and Trey Lowe chipped in nine each.

The Blue Devils (4-19, 1-9) had 10 players score, led by Brock Thompson’s 21 points. Thompson was the only player in double figures for Unicoi County.

The Patriots (16-12, 4-5) moved a half-game in front of Sullivan Central into fourth in the conference.

Unicoi County cleared up the Three Rivers race some with a 66-61 overtime win over Sullivan East.

The Lady Blue Devils (13-7, 6-4) maintained their hold on second place in the conference, a half-game up on Sullivan South (15-10, 5-4).

Kaylee Hendrickson helped shoot the home team to the win. She finished with 19 points and went 5-for-6 at the line in overtime.

Her two 3-pointers came in the final 40 seconds of the game and temporarily gave Unicoi County the lead.

The Lady Blue Devils hit 10 of 16 free throws in overtime. Caroline Podvin had four of her 14 points in that stretch. She also blocked a pair of Sullivan East shots.

Chloe Powers chipped in 11 points and Allee Griffith 10.

Haley Grubb scored 14 to lead Sullivan East (12-15, 3-6). Mattie Gouge and Kylee Wolfe had 13 each, Riley Nelson put up a dozen and Kayla Honaker had the team’s other nine.

Honaker’s final two points of the night, a layup that tied the game at 54, forced overtime.

Unicoi County makes the trip to Elizabethton on Friday. Sullivan East welcomes Sullivan South that evening.
