King and Generis

Patric "PK" King of Kingsport and Su Generis of Passaic, New Jersey, wed in a small and rather sudden ceremony on August 23, 2017 at Delilah's, a whiskey bar near their home in Chicago. The ceremony was officiated by Rev. Mike O'Connell, attended by Patric's brother Nathan King, a handful of friends, and about 30 bewildered customers who were, frankly, only there for a drink.
PK and Su have dated since 2002, and are widely known together around Chicago. So like many long-time couples, the wedding itself was a bit of a lark. Sometimes you just need to get a thing done.
PK is a graduate of Dobyns-Bennett and later UT Knoxville, with a BFA concentrating in typographic design. Su attended the University of Oklahoma, and is a self-taught coder and editor.
Since 2007 they've owned and operated House of Pretty Limited, a brand and type design studio in Chicago, where they've created work for WIRED, Gawker Media, Ogilvy & Mather, and Pentagram Partners. They're in Kingsport several weeks a year to visit with PK's mother, Judy King—retired from teaching at Gate City High, Twin Springs High, and Shoemaker Elementary—and keep up with Kingsport friends and goings-on. Say hey if you see them around.
