Wines-led Lady Falcons sweep county rival Chiefs

ROGERSVILLE — Volunteer rolled past Hawkins County rival Cherokee 25-14, 25-13, 25-11 in District 1-AAA volleyball action on Monday night.

Jersey Wines led the way for the Lady Falcons behind 10 kills, six digs and three aces.

Raenah Barton contributed nine kills, Emma Green finished with seven digs and Sydney Dobbs accounted for 15 assists for Volunteer.

ELIZABETHTON 3, SULLIVAN NORTH 0

KINGSPORT — Whitney Maupin had eight kills and six digs to power the Lady Cyclones to a 25-14, 25-21, 25-14 win over the host Lady Golden Raiders.

Hannah Boster followed with seven kills, and Morgan Smith finished with five kills, 12 assists and eight digs.

Josie Lyons tallied 12 assists and eight digs. Deanna Hull was the defensive leader with 14 digs, and Brittany Kitchens came through with four kills and eight digs.

TENNESSEE HIGH 3, VIRGINIA HIGH 0

BRISTOL, Va. — The Lady Vikings rallied behind a strong team defense and the hitting of seniors Kloey Tester and Kenzie Nickels to sweep the season series from the Lady Bearcats.

Tennessee High clinched the city championship with a 25-23, 25-14, 25-21 win. Tester recorded a double-double of 15 kills and 12 digs, and Nickels was dominant in the middle with 10 kills and four blocks.

Sydney Freeman was key with six blocks. Macy Hurley and Riley McCracken picked up nine digs each and Grayson Phipps had seven to key a stout Lady Vikings defense. McCracken and Madison Curtin came up with 15 and 16 assists, respectively, and Jamayia Honaker had eight kills.

RIDGEVIEW 3, TWIN SPRINGS 1

NICKELSVILLE — Haley Mullins had 13 kills, five blocks and four aces in the Wolfpack’s hard-fought, 25-17, 23-25, 25-14, 25-15 nondistrict win.

Hailey Pease finished with nine kills and Brooke Frazier had eight kills and three aces. Lorin Phipps came up with 14 digs and Kassidy Rasnick had 10 assists for visiting Ridgeview.

Emma Dingus tallied nine kills and Chloe Gilmer had seven kills, 15 assists and four aces to pace the Lady Titans. Rebekah Owens also had seven kills.

Ryleigh Gillenwater closed with four kills, 10 assists and two digs, and Alyssa McCracken and Hannah Fields ended with 12 and 10 digs, respectively.

J.I. BURTON 3, TWIN VALLEY 2

NORTON — Akyssa Hollinger finished with 20 kills and 13 digs, and the Lady Raiders pulled out a dramatic 25-23, 16-25, 25-21, 20-25, 16-14 win over Twin Valley.

Abigail Adams rose up for eight kills, and Bailey Sturgill added to the cause with 21 assists and seven aces.

HOLSTON 3, HONAKER 0

HONAKER — Abby Conde came through with 33 assists, seven digs, a kill and an ace in the Lady Cavaliers’ 25-23, 25-13, 25-13 road win.

Liyah French totaled 19 kills and three digs, Ryland Harrison added eight kills and four blocks and Jordan Lowe had 11 kills, a block and two aces for Holston.

Hannah Hess recorded six kills and four blocks, Autumn Miller had 11 service points and eight assists, Abigail Lester counted nine service points and seven kills, and Emma Barton had nine digs for the Lady Tigers (3-1).

PATRICK HENRY 3, JOHN BATTLE 2

GLADE SPRING — Ella Maiden had 22 kills and four blocks, Hannah Holmes came up with 26 digs and the Lady Rebels fought off the Lady Trojans, 20-25, 25-21, 25-15, 19-25, 15-9.

Logan Newberry (22 assists, 13 digs), Abigail Belcher (12 kills, six blocks), Ellie Johnson (11 digs, four aces) and Avery Maiden (15 assists) contributed big to the win.

Keelie Pippen totaled 18 assists, Bethany Smith had 30 digs and Emma Harmon had eight digs, seven kills and six blocks for John Battle.
