Lady Cougars pin Three Rivers sweep on Lady Patriots

BLOUNTVILLE — The Sullivan Central volleyball team took down Three Rivers Conference rival Sullivan East in three games on Tuesday.

Taylor Wilson totaled 16 kills and four aces and Laiken Hoback charged to 31 assists in the Lady Cougars’ 25-23, 25-22, 25-21 win over the Lady Patriots.

Chloe Ragan contributed eight kills for Sullivan Central.

VOLUNTEER 3, DAVID CROCKETT 0

CHURCH HILL — Jersey Wines posted a double-double of 15 kills and 13 digs in the Lady Falcons’ 25-16, 25-20, 25-18 sweep of their visiting District 1-AAA opponents.

Raenah Barton had nine kills, Sydney Dobbs and Rylee Waye combined for 24 assists, and Hope Bachman and Emma Green each had 10 digs for Volunteer.

WISE CENTRAL 3, JOHN BATTLE 2

WISE — Hannah McAmis amassed a school-record 49 digs to boost the Lady Warriors to the Mountain 7 District victory.

Caitlin Glover had 36 assists, four blocks and 14 digs in the 21-25, 15-25, 25-19, 25-20, 15-10 triumph. Charlee Long and Bayleigh Allison combined for 33 kills, and Isabella Sturgill had 15 digs for Central.

Kelsey Blaylock had seven kills and Logan Leonard added five for the Lady Trojans.

ABINGDON 3, RIDGEVIEW 0

CLINTWOOD — The Lady Falcons dominated on the road, winning the Mountain 7 match 25-15, 25-9, 25-17.

Lorin Phipps had 12 digs, Kassidy Rasnick totaled six digs and five assists and Haley Mullins had four kills for the Wolfpack.

COUNCIL 3, TWIN SPRINGS 0

COUNCIL — The Lady Cobras pinned a nondistrict sweep on the Lady Titans, 25-17, 25-15, 25-16.

Chloe Gilmer had six points, three kills and 10 assists, and Ryleigh Gillenwater had seven points, four kills and five assists to lead Twin Springs.

VOLUNTEER 9, UNICOI COUNTY 0

CHURCH HILL — Emma Lukens tallied a hat trick plus one and recorded two assists in the Lady Falcons’ dominating victory.

Makenzey Smith chipped in with a goal and two assists, and Alyssa Chappell and Riley Dobbs netted a goal apiece. Taylor Castel and Savanna Hamilton each scored their first varsity goals — Hamilton just a minute after she was subbed in.

Erin Smallwood recorded the shutout in goal.

DOBYNS-BENNETT 1, JEFFERSON COUNTY 1

DANDRIDGE — Emily Lane converted a penalty after Haley Tilson was fouled in the box, and the Lady Indians played the Lady Patriots to a draw.

Jefferson County scored on a corner kick in the 51st minute.

DANIEL BOONE 5, DAVID CROCKETT 1

GRAY — The Lady Trailblazers rolled at Nathan Hale Stadium.

Tessa Arney scored in the 20th minute off an assist from Shiyra Phan for a 1-0 Boone lead, and eight minutes later Madeline Runnells, assisted by Maryah Brodio, pushed the advantage to 2-0. Runnells added a breakaway goal in the 37th from 15 yards out, Boone got an own goal in the second half and Kaylee Cleaver scored in the 75th.

Crockett scored on an own goal. Emily Whitson had five shot attempts for the Lady Pioneers.

Each goalkeeper — Riley Adkins for Boone and Alyssa Suits for Crockett — made eight saves.

SCIENCE HILL 7, TENNESSEE HIGH 0

JOHNSON CITY — Six players had goals in the Lady Hilltoppers’ no-doubt District 1-AAA win.

Savannah Fields scored in the fourth minute, Science Hill followed by getting an own goal off a Lady Vikings defender, and the rout was on. Julia Luna, Arianna Rodriguez, Clair Roundtree, Sydney Jordan and freshman forward Megan Burleson had the other tallies.
