KINGSPORT — The 12th annual Racks by the Tracks music, craft beer, wine and food festival got underway Friday and will continue Saturday in and around the Farmers Market at the corner of Center and Clinchfield streets.

Friday’s events included a free Aaron Tippin concert and a Wing Fling competition and barbecue event.

Saturday’s schedule includes barbecue vendors ready to start serving at noon.

There will also be two road races.

Musical performances include the Jake Quillin Band at 12:30, Doctor Ocular at 3, the Ultimate Garth Brooks Tribute Band at 6, and Breakfast Club, a 1980s tribute band, at 8, all of which can be attended for $20.

Beer or wine tasting tickets, $55 each, also include the concerts. For beer, wine and the concerts, the price is $80. Each concert ticket has a $3.52 fee; beer or wine $5.27; and all three combined $6.52.

Among those enjoying the Wing Fling Friday were 5-month-old Mason Kinley, attending his first Racks festival with parents Mikey and Cayla Kinley.

Because of the festival, the portion of Clinchfield Street from Center Street to Press Street closed Friday afternoon and will remain closed through the duration of the event Saturday evening.

In addition, several other road closures will occur Saturday because of the festival and its activities. Affected thoroughfares are Clay, New, Press, Clinchfield, West Sullivan, Main and Market streets. Refer to the map in the online version of this article for more information.

On Saturday, the Farmers Market will be closed, but it will resume its normal schedule on Wednesday, May 22. The Kingsport Carousel will be open Saturday from noon to 8 p.m., as will the playground as part of the Kid’s Station. The carousel operates on normal hours Sunday.
