According to a news release from the Sullivan County Sheriff’s Office, in May a report was received about the severe physical abuse of a 3-year-old. Through investigation by the SCSO’s Criminal Investigations Division, James Allan Brown, 26, was identified as the suspect.
The case was presented to a Sullivan County grand jury, which returned an indictment of one count of aggravated child abuse. On Wednesday, investigators located James Brown at an address in Kingsport.
Police say that when approached by officers, Brown ran from the scene. He was soon located and apprehended, netting an additional charge of evading arrest. He was also served with an outstanding violation of probation warrant.
As of Friday morning, Brown remained held in the Sullivan County Jail on a $125,750 bond. Police report that due to the circumstances surrounding the investigation, no further details can be released at this time.
