Courtney Whitson, the 2018-19 Times News/Johnson City Press girls basketball player of the year, has made her college choice.

On Sunday night, the 6-foot Dobyns-Bennett star, who averaged 23.2 points and 10 rebounds per game her senior season, announced on social media that she has officially committed to becoming a Blue Raider.

“I am so blessed to announce that I have officially committed to Middle Tennessee State University,” Whitson posted on Twitter. “I am thankful God gave me this opportunity. There is something special going on in Murfreesboro and I cannot wait to be a part of it.”

A McDonald's All-American nominee, Whitson finished as D-B’s all-time leading scorer with 2,456 points. She scored 835 points this past season.

Whitson also closed her career as the single-season and career rebounding leader at D-B.

“I want to thank all my family coaches, and friends for the constant love, prayers, and wonderful support,” she continued in her post. “I want to also thank all the amazing college programs, coaches, and players who have opened their arms and welcomed me with such grace. I wouldn’t trade my recruiting experience for the world and I know that as one door shuts another one opens. With that being said, go Blue Raiders!!”
